A True/False Quiz for The Great Blogbina (by Mia Katz)
(Some of the below is true of Mia, some of The Great Blogbina. You figure it out, because I can’t.)
1. You have a degree in fish psychology.
False.
2. You think you understand what fish are thinking.
Sometimes.
3. One of the first items you chose on your recent wedding-gift registry list was a “welcome” mat that said: “leave.”
True. But my fiancé didn’t like it – he was hoping for one that said, “Go away.”
(Ah, well. And there went our Tom and Katie image. A better try? Gomez and Morticia. And yes- my fiancé is the likable one of the two of us.)
4. You have an identical twin.
Nah.
7. You have as pets a Blogosaurus and a soap-on-a-rope.
A girl can dream.
8. You never stop being amazed that people have been willing to pay you for a doodle or a string of words.
Completely true.
9. Your Web site, GemExpressions.com, once predominately was focused upon selling your custom-designed jewelry. Although the site no longer promotes your jewelry (most of what was on the site was sold), you do still create and sell jewelry to those interested.
True.
I more recently have used the jewelry I create to assist in fundraising efforts, but yes- I do still design and sell jewelry to those interested and have even been known to teach a jewelry-making class – to pre-teens. A very scary thing.
And not only for the students.
10. Many people know that you have a long history of working as a staff writer, editor and proofreader for various companies/publications … What they don’t know is that your first semi-journalism-related job was writing the lunch menu schedules for grade schools.
False – although that makes for a semi-interesting story.
My first journalism-related job was work at a book publishing company (they printed books of poetry as well as nonfiction, etc.)
11. Despite the fact that you have sold some of your illustrations, until IllustrationFriday.com, you’ve sadly completely neglected your illustrator side (and especially your cartoonist side) for a long, long time.
True. I am appreciative that IllustrationFriday.com has motivated me to set aside more "serious" time to illustrate. (Though I really haven’t had time for even that lately!)
Whatever this says about me … I’m always doodling; but it’s hard to quit, you know. My excuse is that it is in the blood – on all sides of the family tree (see below for just one example).
12.One of your little-known secrets is that you are related to a (late) multi-Oscar-winning animator and some of the world’s most well-recognized and beloved, classic toons.
Is this off the record? I don’t trust reporters.
