Moth-Light Journalism
A news-making, semi-recent editorial has inspired me to coin a new, potential WordSpy.com (www.wordspy.com) phrase =
"Moth-Light Journalism." Which I define as:
"Commentary or writing that has as its real intent drawing attention, debate and/or controversy for the sake of a ratings, ego and/or career boost." (See also: Yellow Journalism.)
There's really no need to be offended, disturbed or otherwise affected by such journalism, folks.
The key is to recognize it for what it is -- then turn the porch light off.

I love this entry. I rant about yellow journalism all the time and I'm glad to see you are on my side!
