2. Approaching the man who lingers by my car in the grocery store parking lot -- a staggering sort of graying pirate who, before my eyes, sheepishly returns to a clerk the three bags of frozen vegetables he has just shoplifted.


3. Confessing to friends the many levels at which I feel I can relate to a boiled egg in a deck chair. Which doesn't mean I'm going off the deep end or anything.
